The size of the crew is shaped by the needs of the production and the limiations of its budget. What follows is an outline of what positions may need to be filled on a production. On a small scale production one person is likely to waer many hats. With budgets of scale specilization becomes more of a possbility. For the purposes of this article the range of jobs is being divided into three categories:

  • Production Team- this includes the director, producers, writers, and designers.
  • Crew- the individuals responsible for the execution of the technical aspects of the production. Including electricians, grips, transportation, set decorators, boom mic operators and others.
  • Talent- shorthand for actors and other on-camera performers.

The focus of this article is on indentifying the agencies, institutions, organizations, communities, and web sites through which indiviual artists and technicians can be contacted, as well as where equipment essental to production can be rented or purchased.
